The Ensemble

A quintet that grows into an orchestra

The Austrian String Quintet is a flexible chamber formation comprising a string quintet of two violins, viola, cello and double bass, and can be expanded as required into a larger chamber orchestra.

Based in Austria, the ensemble brings together experienced musicians who have performed together over many years.

Its members come from leading professional orchestras and chamber groups, including the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Niederbayerische Philharmonie, the Tiroler Symphonieorchester, the Graz Opera and the Vienna Volksoper, as well as ensembles such as the Sellini Quartet and the Auner Quartet.

The ensemble was formed to create tailored programmes and arrangements, both of symphonic works and of solo concerti accompaniments, alongside a wide repertoire that extends across different musical styles and genres.
