Nebojša Bekčić, born on 6 February 1987 in Čačak, Serbia, is a violist based in Linz. He received his early musical training at the Music School for the Musically Gifted in Ćuprija in the class of Prof. Tomislav Milošević. In January 2007 he moved to Austria to study viola with Prof. Predrag Katanić at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, where he completed his Bachelor's degree with distinction and went on to his Master's studies.
Throughout his training he took part in numerous competitions in Austria and abroad, earning distinctions in Belgrade, Niš, and Sremska Mitrovica as well as the special prize "Summa cum laude" at international competitions in Hungary. In 2013 he was awarded 2nd Prize at the "Streicher Plus" ensemble competition with the Dalton Quartett. He further refined his artistry in masterclasses with renowned violists such as Björn Sjögren, Thomas Riebl, and Gareth Lubbe, and in 2005, at the invitation of the Vienna Philharmonic, he took part in their course in Trenta.
Nebojša has built up extensive orchestral experience over many years. Since 2010 he has performed with the Niederbayerische Philharmonie in positions ranging from tutti to associate principal, and he serves as principal viola of the chamber orchestra die instrumenti. From 2016 to 2022 he was a member of the string quintet of the Wiener Kammersymphonie, and he also appears with the Classic Ensemble Vienna, the Johann Strauß Ensemble Linz, and the Morphing Orchestra. Since 2018 he has performed as a substitute with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, including fixed-term contracts in 2022 and 2024.
His concert appearances have taken him to Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, and beyond.
